Knitting Machine Hack and Glitch Knit

The discontinued Brother knitting machine was hacked so that it could be connected from a computer and knit image data. With the theme of glitch knit using the knitting machine, there are possibilities unique to machine knitting, such as knitting patterns that look like they are broken, or things that the stitches themselves are broken and the holes gradually expand. We sold scarves and sweaters.

生産終了になったブラザー社製の家庭用編み機を、パソコンから接続し画像データを編むことができるように改造を行った。完成した編み機を使って、ニットをグリッチすることをテーマに、破綻したように見える模様を編んだり、編み目自体が破綻していて次第に穴が広がっていくようなものなど、機械編みならではの可能性を探った。マフラーやセーターの販売まで行った。
